Very good. I have been looking for some more authentic Caribbean style food coming down here. Most of the Cuban restaurants, at least the ones reviewed in yelp, are all the same and pretty bland. (I did go to one funky one just outside of Palm Beach airport one time, that I would like to find again.) I have the griot served with rice and the freshly cooked and crispy plantain slices, and salad. There is a sauce for dipping the griot and there is a delicious spicy cabbage condiment. My neighbor ordered the fish and it looked great.

Wanted to check out this "Caribbean" restaurant as I pass by it every day, yes it is Caribbean food, but more specifically Haitian 100% make no mistake, & yes it is true to it's name, definitely best I've had by far. Even though there were a few hiccups, no ice for beverage, & they were out of homemade lemonade & didn't have my first choice item available on this day, I am giving five stars, as the great tasting & authentic Haitian food overrides everything. Settled on the oxtail. It was phenomenal seasoned perfectly, meat fell off the bone, just enough fat, rice, plantains, & salad perfect. Service with a smile. Full of Haitian cabbies, a sure sign of good Haitian fare. Will be going back tomorrow for lunch again & checked that my other choice will be available for me to gobble down tomorrow. Other reviews were correct, this place is great.

my family visited Ft.Lauderdale and soon learned that there is a very vibrant Haitian community there. as such, we were very excited to try out the local cuisine. we saw that this place came highly recommended (via yelp) and I must concur with all the positive reviews. The tassot boeuf and legumes entrees were soooo delicious, rice perfectly seasoned, pikliz to write home about. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars iz because the decor was lacking and the front counter area was awkward, but all in all, it deserves a 4.5 rating. if they served cold Prestige beer, then it would've earned back that half star.

M & S Tropical Restaurant appears to be a neighborhood restaurant with the cuisine being basically Haitian. I'm not sure why they purport "Caribbean" as the food is definitely Haitian without any variations for what might be other foods of the Caribbean area. I ordered the fried pork with plantain, a salad and some of their in house lemonade. The portions were of good size, the coated fried plantains flavorful and though some of the pork chunks were those of meatless pork fat, overall tasty, flavorful and rather good. The price, $11.67 including the lemonade, was exceptionally reasonable however for an overall dining experience I really can't recommend M & S. First off they don't have any printed menus. On the counter area there are there is a board noting certain items but primary for the breakfast, lunch and the takeout crowd. For available food selection, it's a matter of being left up to the mercy of the waitress's memory which doesn't seem to be all good, and if you would like some detailed information, you probably aren't going to get it. I know that when she mentioned that they had a fish offering and I asked what kind of fish. The best response I could get out of her was that it was "a fish," and when I pushed for some further details was only told "just fish, fish from water." So, I'd say their overall service is at best unprofessional, inept and because they are also dealing with takeout orders, divided and generally inattentive to needs those dining within. There is some background music but that is pretty much drowned out by the blaring sounds of a television in the counter/takeout area. When I was there, a rather annoying rerun of a NASCAR race. The tables are unset, many of them with the remaining bits of rice, salad or dirty napkins of previous customers. The windows are super filthy, both outside and within, covered with grease spots, evident children's handprints and would appear to have not been cleaned within decades. Some of the table top condiment racks, which are three place holders, are empty without any condiments, some have but one, others two, but none that I observed containing all three. Hence, if you want to tryout the available condiments, you're going to have to forage around for them. The floors and the food prep areas however appear to be clean and the place is generally in an orderly condition, but there are a lot of other weird factors about the places such a light switch plate in the men's room without any switch. Though there appear to be lights, two mismatched light bulbs, I couldn't figure out a way to turn them on. So if you don't have a mobile device flashlight widget on you, chances are pretty good you're going to end up pissing in the dark. Generally, I really did like the food. In flavor and taste, it captures what is Haitian, but with the lack of menus, disturbing and conflicting background noises, inattentive and unhelpful service, the smeared dirty window panes, messed up sun blinds, lack of decent table settings and the competing environment of takeout dinners, the best I can go, speaking overall, is Two Stars.

Horrible service! They tried to rush me off the phone. When I called I didn't even get a greeting. She was barely listening to me because she was having a very important conversation I assumed. When I got there they didn't have what I ordered. When i asked her why she let me order she replied that I sounded like I didn't know what I want. I am Haitian I speak creole and try to support my culture but this place is not professional and the food is not worth it!
